Mahalo for waiting everyone. The new Vance K Band song is called “When Like Turns Into Love”. Last week we practiced it for the first time. It sounded great. It’s an upbeat, medium tempo song. We’ll debut it on 10/30 at Millions Deli in Yokohama. Come rock with us! Aloha, Vance

Show 18 - 9/19 - The Road & The Sky - Yokohama

VKB was invited to our first hula festival on 8/29 at the huge shopping mall Lazona Kawasaki. Although we only played 5 songs, we really enjoyed the event. The keiki hula was amazing! They were so cute and danced so well!

This was the first time Kawakami-kun played bass for us. He did a great job! Annsan and Kinchan also rocked! Mahalo MMJ for asking us to play at your awesome event! And, mahalo to the VKB fans who came to support us!

For our 17th show, we returned to the legendary Troubadour in Yokohama. It was really nice to see the place packed with people. It was our first full gig in over a month, so we were pumped up for the show. Kinchan, Kiwi and I played our hearts out, as our fans rocked with us.

During the show, I noticed a lot of people with iPhones, so I showed everyone a cool new app for iPhone 4 called “Flashlight”. We all had fun with the strobe light feature. It made Troubadour look like a mini disco. It was a really fun night!

Show 18 was VKB’s first appearance at The Road & The Sky. I had performed there many times with Kawaihae before, so it was great to be back. I also liked their new sound system! Very nice!!

Kawakami-kun joined us again on bass, while Kinchan performed with a mask. The night before the gig, Kinchan came down with a bad cold, but he still did an awesome job! Kinchan is such a pro!!

This show was one of the most wild and fun shows because almost everyone there was drunk!.. haha. It was Primo Night, and the person who collected the most bottle caps (from the beers they drank) won a prize. It was wild!!

Also that night, four fans came all the way from Osaka to watch the VKB show!! Kinchan and I instantly recognized them, and we were so happy! Meccha ureshikatta. After the show, the fans from Kantou & Kansai got to meet each other. It was a really special night.

Mahalo again to our VKB ohana! See you soon! The next Vance K Band gig is on 10/30 at Millions Deli. We’ll debut a new song that night, so please come party with us!

VKBは、８月２９日、大きなショッピングモール、ラゾーナ川崎で行われた、フラフェスティバルに招かれた。全部で５曲だけの演奏だったけど、僕らは、本当にエンジョイしたよ。ケイキ・フラは、素晴らしかった！子供たちは、本当にキュートで、ダンスもうまかったしね。
川上くんが、僕らのベースとして加わったのは、今回が初めてだったけど、彼は、素晴らしい演奏をしてくれたんだ！アンサンとキンちゃんも、ロックしてたよ！こんな素晴らしいイベントに、声をかけてくれたＭＭＪのみなさん、マハロ！そして、僕らをサポートしに、会場へ来てくれた、ＶＫＢファンのみんな、マハロ！

ライブ１７は、横浜の有名な、Troubadourに戻ってきた。会場は、人々でいっぱいで、本当に素晴らしかったよ。一ヶ月以上ぶりの、満席のライブだったから、盛り上がった。ファンのみんなが、僕らと一緒にロックしていたので、キンちゃん、Ｋｉｗｉ、そして僕は、胸いっぱいで、演奏をしていた。
ライブ中、たくさんの人々が、iPhoneを持っているのに気づいたので、僕は、みんなに、“Flashlight”という、iPhone 4の新しいクールなアプリを見せたんだ。僕らは、みんなストロボ・ライトで楽しんだよ。それは、Troubadourを、ミニ・ディスコのようにしたんだ。本当に楽しい夜だったよ！

ライブ１８は、ＶＫＢとしては初のThe Road & The Sky。Kawaihaeでは、たくさん演奏をしていた場所なので、ここにまた戻って来れて、うれしいよ。それに、ここの新しいサウンド・システムが、最高だったんだ！
川上くんが、ベーシストとして、また僕らにジョインした。一方、キンちゃんはマスクをしながらの演奏だったんだ。このライブの前夜、キンちゃんは、ひどい風邪をひいてしまって、でも彼は、最高の演奏をしてくれた！キンちゃんは、本当にプロだよね！
このライブでは、みんなが酔っ払っていたので、すごくワイルドで、楽しいものになったよ。（笑）　まさにプリモ・ナイトで、飲んだビールのボトル・キャップを集めた人が、賞を獲得したぐらいだよ。ワイルドだよね！
また、その夜、ＶＫＢのライブを見るために、４人のファンが、大阪から来てくれたんだ。キンちゃんと僕は、それにすぐ気づいて、本当にハッピーだったよ！めっちゃうれしかった。ライブの後、関東と関西からのファンが、お互い一体となって、本当にスペシャルな夜になったよ。

ＶＫＢのＯｈａｎａ、本当にマハロ！またすぐ逢おうね！次のVance K Bandのライブは、１０月３０日（土）、Millions Deliだよ。新曲も演奏するから、僕らとパーティしに来てね！

Shows 14 & 15 - Osaka & Nagoya

Show 14 - 8/1 - Hawaiian Cafe Mahalo - Osaka
Show 15 - 8/2 - Paradise Cafe 21 - Nagoya

After just a little over 5 months of forming Vance K Band, the boys and I were excited for our second tour in Kansai. This time, we added a show in Nagoya!

We kicked off the tour at the newly opened Hawaiian Cafe Mahalo. The owner and staff (and dog) were really nice to us. They even built a nice stage for our show.

The biggest fireworks festival in Osaka was happening that night, but I was amazed to see so many people skip the fireworks to see us play! I was so happy to see many of the VKB fans that came to our Osaka show in the Spring come again. Osaka ALWAYS rocks and they really rocked that night.

Our good friends Kaz and Mie who were celebrating their 1st wedding anniversary came to the show. As a gift to them, we performed “I Promise You” for the first time in Kansai. Mahalo to our Osaka fans for coming to the show, and for buying the CD. Also mahalo to the ohana at Hawaiian Cafe Mahalo! VKB will be back in Osaka!

The next night, Vance K Band played live at Paradise Cafe 21. We were so happy to see the place packed with VKB fans, and friends from 79.5 FM Radio-i. It was good to see the Poepoe Nagoya ohana at the show too.

I’ve been playing music for a long time, and I must say that Paradise Cafe 21 has one of the best sound systems that I’ve ever heard!! They made us sound like Bon Jovi!!! haha.

The Nagoya fans were incredible! We all had a good time together. The emotion in the venue was at the highest I’ve ever seen it in my life. While singing love ballads like “That’s Why I’m Here”, I saw a bunch of girls crying. Some were holding hands and crying. Some were crying so hard that they had a hard time breathing! My promoter Toyama-san said he’s never seen anything like that before. I never thought my music could touch people that way. I’m extremely grateful and honored.

Mahalo again to the VKB fans in Osaka and Nagoya. Big mahalo to our promoter Toyama-san of Office Gecko for setting up everything and taking good care of us!! Vance K Band hopes to return to Osaka and Nagoya, by the end of 2010. Let’s rock again!

Vance K Bandが結成されて、５ヶ月少し経った頃、メンバーと僕は、二度目の関西ツアーに興奮していた。今回、名古屋を追加したんだ！

僕らは、新たにオープンした、Hawaiian Cafe Mahaloから、ツアーを開始した。オーナーとスタッフ（犬も）は、本当にナイスだったよ。僕らのライブのために、素晴らしいステージを作ってくれたんだ。
その夜、大阪で一番大きな花火大会が開催されていたけど、たくさんの人々が、花火大会じゃなくて、僕らの演奏を見に来てくれたことに、本当に驚いたよ！春の大阪ツアーで来てくれた、たくさんのＶＫＢファンのみんなと、また会えて、本当に嬉しかった。大阪は、いつも、ロックしていて、まさにロック・ナイトだったよ。

結婚１周年記念を迎えた、僕らの友達、カズとミエも来てくれたんだ。彼らへのプレゼントとして、僕らは、関西での最初に、“I Promise You”を演奏した。大阪ファンのみんな、来てくれて、そしてＣＤを購入してくれてマハロ。オハナのHawaiian Cafe Mahaloも、マハロ！また大阪に戻ってくるからね！

次の夜、Vance K Bandは、Paradise Cafe 21でライブをした。そこは、ＶＫＢファンや79.5 FM Radio-iからの友人で埋め尽くされて、本当にハッピーだったよ。名古屋のオハナのみんなを、ライブで見れて、本当に嬉しかったよ。
僕は、長い間音楽を演奏しているけど、Paradise Cafe 21は、今までに聞いたことのないほど、最高のサウンド・システムだった。そのサウンド・システムのおかげで、僕らの音は、まるでBon Joviのようだったよ！（笑）

名古屋のファンは、最高だった！僕らみんな、一緒に素晴らしい時間を過ごしたよ。僕が今までに見たことがないほど、みんなの感情が高まっていたよ。“That’s Why I’m Here”のラブ・バラードを歌っている間、泣いている女の子達を見た。何人かは、手を取り合って、泣いていたり、息をするのも大変なほど、激しく泣いていた人もいたよ。僕のプロモーター、トヤマさんは、今までに、このようなライブを見たことがないと言ってくれた。僕の音楽で、人々がこんなに感動してくれるとは、思ってもみなかったので、本当にありがたいと思ったし、名誉に思うよ。

大阪と名古屋のＶＫＢのみんな、本当にマハロ！僕らのプロモーター、Office Geckoのトヤマさん、全てをセッティングしてくれて、僕らのケアをしてくれて、本当にマハロ！！　Vance K Bandは、２０１０年末頃、大阪と名古屋に戻って来たいと思ってるよ。
またロックしようね！

Show 13 - 7/25 - Millions Deli “VKB CD Release Party”

Aloha kakou (everybody). How was your summer? I hope you had a fun one. Thanks to the VKB fans, it was a memorable one for us.

Show 12, was on 7/20. We played in Churamana’s Hawaiian event at Moon Romantic Aoyama. Manoa DNA was also a part of this stellar evening. Vance K Band started the show. We played for about 30 minutes. It was nice to see our fans sit right in front of the stage. They sure know where to sit :)

Manoa DNA followed us, then came the main act Churamana. They both sounded amazing! At the end of the show, Churamana called up Manoa DNA and Vance K Band to jam a few songs together. It was great way to close off a fun night. Mahalo to the VKB fans who came to the show!

Show 13, took place on 7/25. It was the big VKB CD Release party at Millions Deli in Yokohama. We were really excited about this event. It was great to see the place packed with all our fans. My good friends Manoa DNA stopped by too and jammed a few songs with us. They sounded great as always. Mahalo Alex for playing a few extra songs with us!

Our CDs first went on sale on 7/18, so a lot of the people who came already bought CDs and knew the songs. I was moved with emotions to see many fans in the audience singing songs from the album. When I wrote the songs, I never knew that people would embrace and like the songs so much. Thanks to the fans, it was a perfect CD release party.

I’ll post more show blogs soon. In the meantime, we hope to see you at Troubadour on 9/13, and Road and Sky on 9/19. Mahalo so much!!

みんな、アローハ！　夏はどうだったかな？　楽しい夏だったらいいね。ＶＫＢのファンのみんな、ありがとう。今年は、忘れられない夏になったよ。

ライブ１２は、７月２０日、青山の月見ル君想フで行われた、チュラマナのハワイアン・イベント。ＭａｎｏａＤＮＡも、この星夜にジョインした。Vance K Bandから、ライブがスタートして、約３０分間演奏した。ステージの目の前に、僕らのファンが座っていたのを見て、うれしかったよ。みんなは、どこに座ったらいいのか知っていたんだね。（笑）

僕らの次は、ＭａｎｏａＤＮＡ、その後に、メインのチュラマナが出演した。ＭａｎｏａＤＮＡもチュラマナも、素晴らしいサウンドだったよ。ライブの最後には、チュラマナが、ＭａｎｏａＤＮＡとVance K Bandを呼んで、数曲を一緒に演奏したんだ。それは、楽しい夜の終わりに、最高の演出だったよ。このライブに来てくれた、ＶＫＢのファンのみんな、マハロ！

ライブ１３は、７月２５日、横浜のMillions Deliでの、ＶＫＢのＣＤリリースパーティ。僕らは、このイベントで演奏することに、すごくエキサイトしていたんだ。僕らのファンで、会場が埋め尽くされていたのを見て、最高の思いだったよ。僕の良い友達、ＭａｎｏａＤＮＡも、立ち寄ってくれて、僕らと一緒に数曲演奏した。いつもながら、彼らのサウンドは最高だったよ。Ａｌｅｘ，追加で数曲演奏してくれて、マハロ！

僕らのＣＤは、７月１８日に売出されていたので、もうＣＤを買ってくれて、曲を知っている人たちが多く来ていた。アルバムからの曲を歌っている、たくさんのファンのみんなを見たら、感動したよ。これらの曲を書いた時、みんなが、曲を喜んでくれて、こんなにも好きになってくれるとは思わなかったよ。ファンのみんな、ありがとう。パーフェクトなＣＤリリースパーティだった。

もっとライブブログをアップするね。その前に、９月１３日Troubadour、そして、９月１９日Road and Skyで会おう！本当に、マハロ！！

Aloha VKB fans! How’s your summer going? I apologize for not posting up blog entries recently. I have been really busy promoting our new CD, and writing new songs :) I do however post a lot on Facebook and Twitter, so please check those out.

Here are some quick live reports for you:

Show 9 at Millions Deli was the final show of VKB’s 2010 Spring show. It was one of the loudest gigs ever. The crowd was really energized and we all had a great time. Two VKB fans from Nagoya came to see the show too. It was a great way to start off a tour that started on May 2 at Odaiba Venus Fort.

Wanted to mention that before the Millions Deli show, we had our CD photo shoot. VKB photographer Starsky took a lot of cool shots. For our last bunch of pictures I suggested that we all jump in the air. We took about 5 to 6 jump shots, and ironically, the last picture of the day became our CD jacket photo. Mahalo Starsky for the great pics!

Show 10 was the day VKB’s CD was released. The stage was in front of the brand new shopping mall near Sakuragicho station, Collete Mare. VKB was surprised and so happy to see such a big crowd. The staff told me that we had one of the biggest crowds at that stage! After the show, we sold and autographed our CDs. Mahalo plenty to all our fans who came out to support us, and for buying our debut mini album!! :)

Show 11 was only a few songs, but it was so much fun! We were part of Aloha Yokohama’s 1000 people ukulele. I taught the song Drop Baby Drop, while VKB backed me up. I was amazed at how many great ukulele players were in the crowd. Even people without ukulele participated by playing the air ukulele. It was a really fun time for everyone. Mahalo Dai, and Na Pua for helping with the lesson.

VKBファンのみんな、アローハ！　元気に夏を過ごしてるかな？ここ最近、ブログをアップできてなくて、ごめんね。新しいCDのプロモーションと新曲作りで、とても忙しくて。。。　でもFacebookとTwitterで、たくさんアップしているから、そちらもチェックしてみてね。

最近のライブレポートだよ。

Millions Deliでのライブ９は、VKBの2010スプリング・ツアーのファイナル。今までに、一番盛り上がったライブのひとつだったよ。観客は、とてもエネルギッシュで、僕らみんな、素晴らしい時間を過ごしたんだ。名古屋から、二人のVKBファンも来てくれたよ。５月２日に、お台場Venus Fortでスタートしてから、ツアー最後まで、本当に素晴らしいスプリング・ツアーになったよ。

Millions Deliでのライブの前、僕らは、CDのジャケ写の撮影をしたんだ。VKBのフォトグラファー、Starskyが、たくさんのクール・ショットを撮影してくれて、最終的には、みんなでジャンプしている画像を、僕が押したんだ。このジャンプに、５～６回ジャンプしたかな。でも皮肉にも、一番最後の画像が、CDジャケットに使われたよ。Starsky、素晴らしい撮影を、マハロ！

ライブ１０は、VKBのCDリリースの日。ステージは、桜木町駅近く、新しいショッピング・モール、Collete Mareの前だった。僕らは、すごくたくさんの観客に、本当に驚いたよ。このステージで一番観客が多かったと、そこのスタッフが、僕に教えてくれたよ。そのライブの後、CD販売とサイン会をしたんだ。デビュー・ミニ・アルバムを購入し、僕らをサポートしてくれるファンのみんなに、心からマハロ！！

ライブ１１は、２～３曲だったけど、とても楽しかったよ！アロハ・ヨコハマの１０００人ウクレレでのステージだった。僕が、Drop Baby Dropの曲を教えて、VKBが、僕をバックアップしてくれたんだ。たくさんの素晴らしいウクレレ・プレイヤーが集まってくれたことに、本当に驚いたし、ウクレレを持って来なかった人々でさえ、エア・ウクレレで、参加してくれたんだ。
本当に楽しい時間だったよ。Dai, Na Pua、レッスンを手伝ってくれて、本当にマハロ。
